They say if a woman touches her hair while she talks to you it means something. If she puts on her lipstick and stares at you that also means something. What about a uniform code for body language flirt?

Using a code everyone understands is exciting because it's always interpreted correctly and you can use it to flirt in public. What body language do you use when you flirt or are flirted?

I thought of automatic shoe polish offered as a new service inside each train wagon on subways. Small machines installed underneath the surface where the feet rest. Just behind where you seat there is a coin receiver that takes the service charge. Once the coin is dropped the shoe polish machine comes out and polishes your shoes. On a rainy day to work, that would be a great service to offer while you sit!

Wouldn't it be more efficient, more secure and more eco-friendly to replace passports with fingerprint and eye-check only? Why do we need to carry paper passports when we can digitize some of our most unique body parts that serve as the best and most accurate form of identity? Don't you agree that paper passports will soon become a thing of the past?

Professional photographers will go to all extremes to capture a good moment. They are often required to be very creative with their body positions in order to take a good photo. I was thinking that if photographers' creative positions were captured by a professional photographer they could then be turned into an interesting choreography. I imagine the theme of the show to be the life and challenges of a photographer!

Predict your future by controlling future outcomes?

What if we had the ability to read other people's thoughts as soon as they are conceived? Wouldn't that be a great way to control our future? Say you asked someone to do something and while they take the time to answer with a yes or no, you can know what they're thinking, what holds them back or what excites them about your request! Wouldn't that kind of knowledge give you the power to shape any future outcome to your advantage?

If you could control the way a certain outcome will play out, isn't that a better alternative to our lack of ability as humans to predict the future? If being able to predict the future is impossible, is being able to control it or at least shape its direction the next best thing to it?

There are many movies and science-fiction scenarios out there in which people can either predict the future or know it in advance. I think it would be far more interesting to have a movie or a scenario where people can read other people's thoughts and adjust their behavior based on that information and not based on advance knowledge of the future.

If you had the option to born or rich or beautiful but only one of them what would you chose?

I personally choose rich because I believe especially for a rich it's easier in life to marry to a woman who looks nice.

Beautiful men who are attractive in order to go rich in life have to be very very smart at what they do.

This is not the case for a rich man. At least they marry to beautiful women :)

Height - Adjustable! Ramen Tables

Ramen is a type of noodle dish that is very popular in Japan and Asia. In Japan there are many noodle shops where people eat standing. Everyone has to bend up and down all the time in order to eat, those who are tall obviously have to bend more. Since the Japanese are so proud and good about designing every day products that make life more comfortable (eg super-toilet seats) why don't they design height-adjustable ramen tables or benches so people don't have to bend all the time while they eat?

Just to give you an idea of how easy it is for Japanese industry and engineers to come up with such a patent let me tell you what a Japanese super-toilet seat has been designed to do.

Sometimes dubbed "super-thrones," these top-of-the-line high-tech toilet seats come with wall-mounted control panels as sleek and complex as those of stereo systems. Their manifold buttons allow adjustment of the nozzle position, water pressure and type of spray, plus blow-drying, air purification and seat warming for those cold winter mornings. Water and seat temperatures are also adjustable. Did I mention you can even choose the sound the water makes flushing down?

It then strikes me that a society and a culture who is so advanced in the design of super-toilets will allow people to eat in the most inconvenient posture! What an amazing contradiction, don't you think?

Maybe the intake of the food is supposed to be a little inconvenient so that it balances out with the comfortable outtake process later! I wouldn't be surprised if some of these ramen shops which are very small and narrow actually had super-toilet seats in the bathroom. But after I finished eating my very delicious ramen, I was too tired to go check it...

exhilarating - exciting - entertaining - emusing...

In a recent thought I posted I received an interesting from another user " Gaea " .

I'm pasting Gaea's comment:

" So, I guess my question now is: what determines identity? Is it the fact that you have a passport of that country? Or that your parents are from that country? Or that you were born in that country? Or simply that you’ve lived for several years in that country? "

I'm also including the link of the topic which initiated the conversation and the comment.
Title: Do you call yourself European?
http://thinkaloo.com/ideas/view/view_idea.php?id=326

To those who want to express their opinion they can do it here.

** I'm editing my thought here ***

To answer the question what determines identity I believe there are two types of identities. The one that's related to how we feel and the one which is linked to our passport.

Legally speaking the passport is the paper which defines our identity. But as a human being I'm more defined than just a paper. And this is my culture, my believes, my heritage, my history and most of all my feeling.

So coming to the second identity, it's the one that's linked to how we feel about a place and where our heart belongs.

When I travel in Europe and I'm in Paris for example I claim that I'm from Norway. But when I am somewhere far away (for example the US, or somewhere in Asia; never been there ) I personally feel as much European as someone who's from Norway.

There are differences between the European countries, but being in the US to me everything in Europe looks and feels the same. So I believe it's safe to claim that I'm European.

Have you ever traveled from the US back to Europe. Wherever you land you get the same feeling. Back in Europe.

I don't know if that's only me but that's how I feel.

Monks disrupt journalists' tour of Tibet

LHASA, Tibet (AP) -- A government-managed visit by foreign reporters to Tibet's capital backfired Thursday when Buddhist monks disrupted the tour, screaming that there was no religious freedom and that the Dalai Lama was not to blame for Lhasa's recent violence.

The government had arranged the trip for the reporters to show how calm Lhasa was after the deadly riots shattered the city.

The outburst by a group of 30 monks came as the journalists were being shown around the Jokhang Temple, one of Tibet's holiest shrines.

"Tibet is not free! Tibet is not free!" yelled one young Buddhist monk, who then started crying.

Efficient and custom-made business thinking!

What is the toaster-teapot product all about? Make tea and toast at the same time? That's efficiency! How many people make tea and toast at the same time? Very very few, thus custom-made products! In addition to mass-produced gadgets and products, why can't we have custom-made ones that improve efficiency and are made to suit personal taste and individual needs?

Sometimes a particular need that suits one individual could be turned into massive commercial success with the right kind of marketing and advertising. Even to this day, however, products are designed to meet the needs of the masses.

I suggest that we complement business thinking not just with niche market products but also with products and gadgets that are ordered by customers in order to satisfy personal taste and individual needs. Business will counter that the costs to making them would be too high, but I disagree.

If it is to be custom-made, ordering of the parts and raw material and manufacturing of the product begin only after payment has been made. What you need is a team of very experienced engineers and designers who upon receiving the order they can then put it together by knowing what parts to order and where to order them from. In the online age we all live, I think this is possible! What's your view?

Egyptian-born Italian journalist Magdi Allam was recently baptized Catholic by the Pope in Vatican. That was a great PR victory for the Catholic Church and was all over the news.

Islam could use its weapon of limited polygamy (up to 4 wives at any one time) to lure celebrities in the West to convert. I can think of a few, starting with Nicolas Sarkozy of France who is already into his 3rd marriage with Carla Bruni!

Celebrity marriages don't last long anyway, if they were closely monitored by the Islamic world, with the right kind of polygamy PR they could be enticed to convert :)

I love to read books and I was thinking of a new business model for online bookstores. Allow customers who pay a monthly fee to either rent or buy as many e-books as they want. When the customer downloads the books, the publishers and writers will then share a commission from the monthly fee that was paid by the customer.

This is value for money for customers who will have access to as many books as they want. Writers and publishers will benefit from increased sales of their books. I am curious if Amazon or Barnes & Nobles or any of the other major online bookstores will move into this new business model.

The model already works for music and movies, it is a matter of applying it to books next as more of them become available in digital format.

In the UK, crossing the street on a diagonal is called jaywalking, which is also illegal in some states in the US. Why can't the government install diagonal crossings with traffic lights on each end and make it legal to cross on a diagonal? Do you think it should be illegal to cross on a diagonal?

I had this debate with a friend of mine who comes from a little town. The argument was that in a small place where everyone knows each other word of mouth spreads very fast. Thus if a business wants to survive, they can't offer crap quality. While this doesn't mean you end up with world-class quality in small towns, at least the bottom crap gets eliminated.

On the other hand it is only in a big city you will find world-class and better quality because of more competition. The counter-argument was that while it's true you will get more competition in a big city, you get it at all levels including at the bottom crap level. In other words, big size will allow some businesses to offer bad quality services or products AND survive.

I had to admit he had a point. So is size and not the degree of competition the ultimate factor behind eliminating bad quality? What do you think?

I am interested in your opinion on this. If Hillary wins, she could use Obama in her cabinet, possibly as Secretary of State or at the Department of Energy to oversee the transition to a green economy. If Obama wins, however, I don't think there is much room to use Hillary. Their positions on health care and foreign policy in Iraq are different. Which do you think is more likely to happen?

If it's true that Hillary and Obama are a dream ticket, would you vote for Hillary so that you can also get Obama's talent or would you go for Obama with less chances to use any of Hillary's experience?

Unlimited Multiple Citizenships!

If our world has become flat and global, why not make it more integrated? What if you could apply for different citizenships and be able to hold them all by paying annual fees and by passing exams in history, language, civic lessons etc? The annual citizenship fee is a form of tax which would help national governments collect more in taxes.

Citizenship in a country is not the same as nationality. While you will have only one nationality, you will be able to reap the citizenship benefits of Any country that interests you. You will also have to bear the responsibilities and obligations that come with the citizenships you hold.

Say you are a European and hold an American citizenship. You could work in the US if you wish, you could vote in US elections but choose to live in Europe. As long as you pay your taxes to the US government in the form of the annual citizenship fee and have passed your citizenship exams, you can freely vote both in your country of origin and in the countries of citizenship you applied for.

The advantage of this is that with a multiple citizenship option you can work anywhere you want, you can raise capital in more than one country to start a new business, in general you could enjoy more benefits in a world that will be more integrated than just more global!

What do you think? Wouldn't unlimited multiple citizenships make our world more integrated and also help deal with the illegal immigration problem many countries face?

how about a universal internet language that will allow everyone to communicate without the need for a translator? if the internet connects the whole world with the click of a button, then its universal language can help everyone communicate with whomever they want.

I am not suggesting that this new language replaces national languages, I am suggesting that it is learned as a second language early on in school, same way people learn english, french, german etc

if the whole world will interact, communicate and trade more and more online in the future, a new, simple and universal internet language can help facilitate the process. to me, the need for coming up with such new language makes sense.

kids can learn it online from a young age. adults should be able to pick it up pretty fast. a few ideas on how such an artificial language can be constructed. the grammar, syntax and pronunciation should be simple. it should have precise words for different concepts so that any meaning conveyed is clear. less ambiguity the better. this is because people will use it to trade and make business online.

I can't think of any other rules at the moment. can you? what is your opinion on this subject?

This thought came to me at a photography exhibit. All photos on display were actually taken by digital cameras. If photos are digital what's the point of printing them when you can upload them and exhibit them online for the whole world to see? Shouldn't photography exhibits go online?

A photo exhibition in physical space is limited in the sense that only few people can go visit and see it. I think the concept of an online museum, where possible, should replace physical spaces or at the very least complement them.
