Raise the money by renting out college buildings and class spaces that are currently used just to give lectures. With video conference technology students can attend lectures from their room. I would prefer that if rented out class space meant I can receive more financial aid to pull it through in this bad economy.

increase armrest space
I can think of many places where this is necessary. air planes, buses, cinemas, theaters etc. A passenger can't be expected to cut or shorten their arms but a company could increase the space of the armrest. This is important because people from different cultures have different ways to deal with intrusion to what they consider as their private space. Elbow cups with soft cushion inside would also be a good idea.

Negative Space business
Do you think it's total fantasy to start a business selling the negative space of objects rather than the objects themselves? Negative space can be anything, for example the hole in the middle of a doughnut. The business will not sell the doughnut, only the hole. If the business is online and negative space cheap to buy there is good chance people will buy. Art collectors pay lots of money to buy, among other things, some of the most imaginatively abstract paintings that can exist. After all, what can be more abstract than negative space itself? :)

Special glasses for laptop use in plane
Some airlines (Delta, United, Virgin etc) are rushing to offer Wi-Fi internet connections in economy. Most people cite cramped space on the tray table as the major problem for laptop use in a flight but I think privacy is a more serious problem. Text chatting with my girlfriend or friends, I wouldn't want the guys sitting next to me reading what I write. We are all curious creatures by nature and easily tempted to read into everything that gets displayed on someone else's computer screen.
One way to solve the privacy issue is with special use glasses that the passenger puts on to watch what is displayed on the computer screen which stays turned off. I looked up online and found out that head mounted display glasses already exist. They connect to common video sources and are ideal for mobile entertainment and information applications.
I expect that as in-flight Wi-Fi becomes available and people take their laptops with them, there will be a big demand for use of such glasses to protect privacy. I think it's a smart investment to buy stocks of companies that make them.

The NASA acronym
I just did a Google search for the NASA acronym and I found that it has at least 37 different meanings starting, of course, with National Aeronautics and Space Administration to National Association of State Archaeologists (USA) and to Navy Alpine Snowsports Association in..Australia!!! The only use of the acronym I didn't see was that of a commercial airline. NASA is so famous all over the world, don't you think it would be clever to launch a new airline whose acronym would be NASA? How about New Age Service Airlines for example?

Facilitate space debris collection
Make all spaceship and satellite equipment from material that transmit their exact location. Develop a website, perhaps only NASA can do that, which monitors their orbital fall back to earth. By giving out the exact location of their fall on earth, space enthusiasts will go collect them. If they fall in remote places, the locals can pick them up and sell them via auction on eBay. NASA will certify the authenticity of recovered items such as an astronaut's glove claimed to be Neil Amstrong's or a screwdriver belonging to Yuri Gagarin. When facing budget cuts, NASA can collect the items itself and put them for sale on eBay to raise money for its programs:)

Alien currency name brainstorm
If we could trade products and services with aliens, in what currency should the transactions be made? Can you suggest a cool name for the new currency?

Toxic Asset ruminations...
Hmmm, what shall we do with the financial so-called Toxic Assets?
a) bury them?
b) send them to space?
c) re-cycle them?
d) derive them?
e) re-rederive them?
Well!
Ok, a few hints before you make your pick
Choices d and e are sarcastic (as if the phrase Toxic Asset isn't). They were added to bring the number of multiple choices to 5, so it really comes down to a, b and c...
What do we usually do with things toxic when we also happen to view them as assets?
Obviously and despite the trillion dollar bailouts, it seems we can't afford to send them to outer space, otherwise Obama would have put NASA in charge, not Geithner.
Option b gets eliminated. So b as it may, we are left with options a and c. Now we have a real di-lemma!
If something is toxic, is it an asset or waste?
That's a tough one and goes beyond mere semantics. It depends really. If the waste is human or animal, it still is toxic but can safely and productively be recycled. Shit happens all the time, but it's good for you. Human shit goes into the ground and cow farts up the sky where they eventually get aircycled or if they can escape earth's gravity they might economically dissolve their way into outer space (can cow or any farts really escape earth's gravity??)
But seriously now, if the waste Is nuclear we don't recycle it, we insulate it and bury it as deep as we can.
So, where does that leave us in terms of our beautifully aromatic current predicament?
If it's shit, it Is an Asset because it can be Recycled. But if it's Nuclear it definitely Is Non-Recyclable Waste. So, which Is it we are dealing with here?
Before you say they are both shit anyway, ask yourself:
Even if it's shit, how much shit can we really take before it becomes detrimental to our health?
Perhaps until the coroner determines toxicity levels as cause of death, we might be better off calling them shitty assets and stick with the recycling for now.
Or, perhaps the coroners might be the first to go from too much shit in our media, so we might never find out what it was that caused Our going next!
a or c?
Pick your favorite answer but even if it's a, don't stop recycling your toxic assets.
So long as you call them assets, there will always be people willing to take your shit and pass it around!
Our media is so brilliant, isn't it??
Toxic Asset My Ass!
Perhaps, if Bush and Obama had named it TAMA instead of TARP, we might have smelled the humor and seen better results...
Perhaps!

What if we could create some kind of artificial partial solar eclipse?
This will reduce the amount of solar energy that gets to the earth.
I think I had read somewhere that some people had come up with the idea of creating large space-blankets that will orbit the earth and reflect sunlight back to the sun.
Whatever needs to be built, the main idea is this. Since we can't seem to have a way to remove green house gases from the atmosphere, we can at least try to reduce the amount of solar energy that gets to the Earth!
Any other ideas how to do so?
