Opposite-taste gum

How about this for a new gum product. A gum that produces the opposite taste in the mouth. Did you eat something too salty you're about to throw up? Even if you drink water you'll still have a nasty feeling. Chew the opposite-taste gum which detects saltiness and reverses the taste in your mouth to something sweet. Ate something too hot and chilly? The gum leaves a cool feeling. Its flavor stays neutral, it'll be like a pill to have in your wallet in case of emergency. Restaurants and shops that usually have regular candies by the entrance should stock them too.

Would it be too embarrassing to order just dessert?

Dessert is a course that typically comes at the end of a meal but I am thinking that in a weak economy people should become creative with cost-cutting and try to keep doing as many of the activities they were used to as possible. One is going out to eat in a restaurant. I guess I can eat at home and then go out in a restaurant with my friends and just order dessert and perhaps a drink to go with it.

Restaurants which will experience a huge drop in business need not advertise their plight in their websites by saying they accept dessert-only meals but if customers come in and order just dessert they should be happy to provide it and train the staff not to express any sign of surprise when they take the order.

Star Wars restaurant

With millions of fans around the world, it would be popular to have Star Wars restaurants. Like Planet Hollywood restaurants, they will be decorated with a Star Wars theme, but the food will be served by C-P30 droids R2-D2 robots. Tips for good service will be left in the form of olive oil, batteries or robotic parts and screws depending on, what else, the vintage of the droid :)

Smoking Elephant

I stumbled upon this sign at a restaurant in Tokyo. First I wondered what it might mean. No smoking, sneezing and drinking elephants allowed in the restaurant? No blowing cylindrical items in here? Imaginative and cute for a "No Smoking" sign you will probably only see in Japan.

Bar and Restaurant Menus

I was at a bar restaurant recently and I was sitting in a dark area of the store. I could not really read the menu due to the lack of light. I thought it would be good to have menus printed with reflective letters so that they light and make it easier to read them. Maybe only for the name of the drinks and food but not for the prices :-)

Chopsticks

Does anyone else here feel annoyed about chopsticks that have to be manually separated? Why can't chopsticks already come separated in the little package? I have been told that I am obsessive about it. I know it bothers me to look at chopsticks unevenly separated at the top. Of course, it's almost impossible to manually split them evenly.

Good Asian restaurants serve plastic or other finer material chopsticks that are already separated and symmetrical. It's usually with the cheap wooden ones that come as a set and must be separated. Honestly, what's so difficult to sell them already separated? Any others in this world who feel this way about chopsticks?

I read somewhere that Chinese gov reinforces restaurants to use washable chopsticks. Lot of people buy those wooden one time use chopsticks something bad for the forests. I believe that is due to manufacturing reasons that it's easier not to split them in 2 pieces. Don't know exactly how it works.

I think the pizza knife might work in helping you split the chopsticks evenly. Just ask for one from the kitchen, it will also help illustrate your point about the chopsticks.

How to speed up slow service in a restaurant...

after having complained a couple of times that service is terribly slow. Well, start making yourself to the exit without paying the bill, that should alert the staff and if it doesn't go home and let them foot the bill :)

Why colors in Indian restaurants are so monotounous?

Food and color preference are subjective of course. But! objectively speaking, isn't color in most Indian restaurants in Europe or in America rather dull and monotonous? Why don't they make the color combinations more exciting? More spicy so to speak so that they at least match the plenty of spice there is in Indian food?

Why is car insurance mandatory?

I can understand why you need a car diploma to drive and why you must always carry it with you. I don't understand why car insurance must also be mandatory to have. If the reason is to always pay for any damaged caused in an accident, then why doesn't the law ask us to have insurance for anything that we do that might cause damage?

For example if I go out on a dinner and I get poisoned because of the meal I ate, then under the car insurance logic why isn't the restaurant owner required to have food poisoning insurance and reimburse me for any hospital expenses I incur under the law?

I think car insurance should not be mandatory under the law. Does anybody know the reason for which it is? What do you think? Should it be mandatory?
