most museums and galleries in australia close at 5pm during the week. this doesn't make sense because most people finish work just then. it is only after 5pm that they have time to visit during the week. by hiring more staff or temps or switching shifts museums should also stay open after 5pm. otherwise they become mostly used by students or people who can afford not to work and the general public has access to them on weekends when they are at their most crowded. that's not fair!

camera ommission
i would like to know what kind of energy bars and drinks federer and nadal used yesterday at the australia open final. the stuff that keeps them going during long and intense games. unfortunately the camera never zoomed in close enough to get a good look at it. don't pro athletes have sponsors for everything, including energy drinks?
tennis rackets, shoes, clothes, bags, towels, they all get close ups in order to advertise the sponsors but for some reason that's not the case with the energy drinks or food.
i wonder why...on a totally different note, what if the powerbars they eat came in the shape of the medal??

How to raise money for the Olympic Games
Olympic Games cost a lot of money and often leave cities and countries in large debt. Here's an idea to raise money for them. It's based on user hanagasa's thought about fireworks advertising.
For a very small charge (few cents) send a short personal text message from the mobile phone that will appear along with your name in the fireworks of the opening/closing ceremony. Only 1 lucky message gets displayed. The lucky sender gets refunded and his message read by everyone around the world watching the games. The hundreds of millions of people whose sent messages won't appear will raise hundreds of millions of dollars for the organizers.

instant date replacement
If your date doesn't show up why not meet someone whose date hasn't shown up either? An online service where people post the time and place of their planned dates and photo. Look up to see whose date in the area hasn't shown up either and text them to meet up. You can easily break the ice by talking about how annoying it is when your date doesn't show up but also how fun it's to meet someone whose date hasn't shown up either. I'd call the service Date Awol Solutions! To encourage use of the site by everyone install internet terminals in major meeting spots around the city :)
