America's Back (and it's) Black!!!

Now that the Mac is not back, is it better to buy PC or Google? Whatever the case may be, I am so happy that the choice is still an American one. I always had this image of Obama being a 007 in a 747 flying America's best hopes and dreams all over the world. The guy's very focused and down to earth and having lived abroad in Indonesia and with roots and family still living in Kenya let's hope he will make a great President not just for America but for everyone around the world. He showed great respect for McCain and was very sober in his victory speech. I think America did a great hire in this election

which letter is most popular?

could google count all the instances each individual letter appears on the web and then rank them by most use? i had this strange thought that if an article is written with words that make more use of the most popular letter people will probably read it faster. if such assumption holds true then a new software algorithm can be made to suggest edits on long texts for faster reading.

Domain name share-advertising

It's like renting out e-property for a while. If a site has huge traffic and recognition it can do the following to make shit loads of money. When users type the domain name to visit the site the landing page will be similar to Google's Chrome tabs, clicking on a tab will take you to that site. Example. You type famousSite.com to visit your favorite site. You land on a page with 2 screenshots, on the left is your normal site and on the right is the advertised site which will open in a new tab/window if you click on it.

The advertiser will pay top dollars for displaying his site's clickable screenshot or other image on a famous site. Actually the advertiser will buy a limited number of displays, so not all users of the famous site will get to see it. Maybe the famous site can ask some of its users to opt-in for such kind of advertising once in a while.

Imagine the instant advertising impact for a new site if it appeared side by side on Google, eBay, CNN etc landing page. If a company has a couple of millions to spend on advertising why not?

Store images on a globe

Maybe this is already available... but...I think it would be really cool to have a computer program that stores all your images on a big globe that you can zoom into, just like on Google maps.

Clitoris straw

At a bachelorette party I found myself wondering why girls have to drink out of penis straws and wear penis necklaces but not the other way around. I would love to see a guy wear a vagina necklace and drink out of a clitoris straw. I had no idea they existed until I turned Google Safe Search off and discovered them. The real world out there seems to be way more sophisticated than I could imagine. The good news is I don't have to invent my imagination to experience it. It's already been invented for me.

MySpace vs Facebook. Let the battle begin!

Facebook is adding a "username" to people's account to "easily direct friends, family, and coworkers to your profile". Is my full name not enough to direct someone to my profile? I logged into MySpace account for the first time in a few weeks and I noticed they have a new bar at the bottom of the page...just like Facebook...with online friends and chat...just like Facebook. And yet Facebook is letting you choose a username...just like Myspace. We all know that Myspace is to Facebook like Yahoo is to Google. Tom and Jerry Zuckerberg. Mark your posts!

Bing versus Google

Microsoft rolled out its answer to Google, known as Bing. Now, perhaps there are some folks out there who are looking for a new search engine, but I don't really know any of those people. I like Google, it's straightforward and I know how to use it. So, what's Bing going to bring to this game? Microsoft has been in a bit of copycat mode lately with Vista (Microsoft OSX) to Silverlight (Microsoft Flash) and now Bing (Microsoft Google). Perhaps it should put its gigantic heads together and come up with a product that won't immediately be compared to a superior one that's already been serving the market quite well. It's just a thought.

I'm feeling lucky...

Is that a glimpse of the future Google is working on? I am talking about the "I'm feeling lucky" search button. Google revolutionized search because it gives you the most relevant results. If it can give you the exact thing you were looking for, that would be only 1 result you would need. That would be Google at its most efficient.

YouTube Dictionary

I think an online multi-language Video Dictionary is still missing from the web. Text definitions should be replaced with voice and image definitions. An online dictionary where users upload video definitions of words using images, video clips and presentations. Since it would require large storage capacity, I thought You Tube would be the ideal platform for it.

How to make Google smarter

Google ranks the web by popularity. Wouldn't it be great if we could rank the web by intelligence or other attributes? People's IQ is measured in tests, why not measure the content of websites similarly and then filter search results accordingly?

Google probably has the brains and resources to offer such service in the future. For example, if I do a keyword search for 'subprime market tips', I want to filter the display of my search results so that I get the websites with most intelligent content only and not those with the most popular content. I know it sounds nice but people might say it's not possible to do. Google succeeded as a search engine because it was smarter due to the accuracy of its searches. Why not add intelligence or other attributes in the display of its searches?

Google has a great translation tool that allows you to translate foreign websites into English, but I was wondering if Google search results on an English keyword include results from relevant foreign websites that have been translated in English by Google's own translation software.

If Google doesn't search from a translated database of all foreign (non-English) sites, I think they should. This would require more storage capacity and thus be more costly to Google because it would mean we must replicate the amount of sites stored in the database from which search results are drawn.

On the other hand, however, such a feature will make online search truly global and with the right algorithms even more relevant!

Use Picasa for Google Earth photos

I am a great fun of Google and its software. I use Picasa to organize my photos and Google Earth to look up addresses or places I want to go to. I noticed that Google Earth allows users to upload photos using this service called Panoramio but the photos you can see are limited. Why don't they use their own software Picasa instead?

I think it would have been much better if Google Earth users could have access to Picasa users' photos that are public. This way there would be a larger supply of photos to choose from and more variety for the end-user.
