Matching socks detector

Sometimes people like me will grab any pair of socks to wear even if they are of different color. I wish my socks had some kind of tiny wireless beeping device on them that would beep every time I didn't wear a matching pair. It's function can be simple. Every time a sock's matching pair is not within a distance of one meter it would beep. This way it would also help me not to lose socks.

no more restricted view seats

restricted view seats in an opera is when you can't read the surtitles from where you're seating. why can't the opera houses provide individual text-scrolling devices on those seats? a small hand-held device that streams text is not rocket science and it doesn't cost much to buy and provide. if you can't change the view, work around it!

Swimimng pool thoughts

People these days post their thoughts from anywhere thanks to iphones and blackberries. This convenience is liberating because you can't make a date with your thoughts and expect that they stick to it. I know I do a lot of thinking when I swim and like to swim every day if I could. It's rhythmic, quiet and soothing. I think of it as meditating in water and most swimmers I know think the same. On my way to my regular swim yesterday I was thinking that the pool is one of those places where people can't post their thoughts as they come to them. In my view, many good thoughts are wasted because swimmers do a lot of thinking in the water but it's very hard to remember them after.

I could take the blackberry with me and have it by the side of the pool but I am always worried someone might accidentally step on it or drop it in the water. I know it's probably too much to have touch keypad waterproof screens on the side or at the end of each lap only for people to post their thoughts. But if the screens were mainly used to take measurements from lap times to heartbeats similar to what people get in a sport gyms from a running machine, it probably wouldn't be difficult to connect the device to the internet and allow people to post thoughts from within the pool as they take breaks.

This thought is for people who feel nostalgia when they re-visit a place where they used to live in the past. What if shoe soles can be made to have their own signature - similar to fingerprints - which can be saved invisibly on the ground's surface?

With the help of a laser scanning or other device - similar to banknote counterfeit scanners - the shoe prints would show on the surface when the laser falls on them. This way you could easily see and re-trace the exact steps you made and places you visited years ago.

Such a thing would probably require that the surface of cities, town, villages etc is made from material that can save the shoe prints. Assuming such material can be created, it will also require massive investment to install it. It will probably make more business sense to try it in tourist areas or historic spots.

Wouldn't it be nice if such technology existed and used this way?
