I read an article on CNN about the germiest tourist attractions in the world. 400,000 people kissed the Blamey stone in Ireland last year and Oscar Wilde fans who visit his tomb in Paris leave Wilde lipstick marks on it. There is no sign in these places saying they are disinfected daily and they're ok to kiss. The tourist authorities wouldn't want to make people self-conscious about it but how do we know they clean them every day? This article made me self-conscious, not just about tourist spots. In Greece, it's the custom to kiss religious icons in a church. I was forced to do it when I was little. I didn't like it because I believed I was the anti-Christ. Now I know I'm not (I can't even delete the memory of the kiss how could I have been the chosen one?) but seeing other people's lip-prints on the glass is still disgusting to me. Can someone convince me that those hairy/oily Greek priests clean the icons before they ask people to kiss them??

new swimming pool rule
should we brush our teeth before getting into the swimming pool? how about disinfecting them with mouthwash which is quicker and easier to do? most people think it's unnecessary but then why is it that in almost all countries in the world (except australia that I know from personal experience) must people take shower before entering the pool?

headphone ear swab
what about having your ears cleaned while you listen to music? weird, no? I don't know if the product exists but cleaning the ear must make absolutely no noise to distract you from the music. it can sell like any other silly gadget that's in the market. and hey you never now how helpful it can be. for example if someone's ears are too dirty he might hear the music better after they're cleaned. if that's not possible it'll be fun to promote it like that anyway :D:D:D

The Global Warming Conspiracy?
Disclaimer: I have few, if any facts to support what I am about to post and I'm not even sure I believe it myself. It's just a thought.
It seems to me that environmentalists may have been played like a stradivarius on this one. Not so long ago, environmentalists were actually doing good things and making substantial progress, especially in the area of pollution (clean air and water, hiking trails etc).
But now you don't seem to hear much about that anymore, all you hear about is this nebulous sword of Damocles known as Global Warming. I get the sneaking suspicion that it was all orchestrated, with marvelous success, to divert attention away from real progress and regulations pertaining to fundamental environmental issues.
As long as there is no agreement and people are kept arguing, nothing gets done...about anything.

What if there was an electric mat that could clean your shoes before you enter in the house just by standing on it?

You got to rinse it first before you let it dry...

I'm referring to cleaning dishes by hand. The British have a belief I find very weird. They think that after they clean the dish with soap, they can let it dry on the rack without rinsing it first. They think it is ok. Personally, I think this is bad hygiene. If the soap/detergent dries on the plate, chances are that the chemical will find its way in your body next time you eat on that plate.
I used to have this argument countless times with my British roommates when I studied in England. While it is true that the plate is clean from the dirt, what they don't understand is that it is not safe if you don't rinse it! Do you think it is ok to let the soap dry on the plate?

Why nobody ever thought of throwing salt on the streets and pavements before snowfall and always do so after all the damage is done in order to avoid accidents???

The other day in the office I had to clean the filter of my espresso machine because the coffee had clogged up those small holes. I tried using one of the metal brushes with very fine threads but could not get the threads to go into the holes.
Solution? I put the filter basket in a cup with hot water, added some dish soap and let it there for 30 minutes. Amazingly the holes had cleared up on their own. I did not have to do it anything more. Pretty cool!

What about using distilled water to rinse dishes from soap?
I think that would make it safer for our health because after the water dries, on the surface of the dishes there are remnants left from the impurities found in the regular tap water.
